Itamar Gilboa kept a diary of everything he ate and drank for the duration of a year. He meticulously kept track of his daily consumption. The results can be seen in a sculpture installation, the Food Chain Project. His installation, a traveling pop-up supermarket consisting of more than 8,000 white plaster sculptural groceries, physically represents Gilboa’s yearly consumption. Percentages of the sales profits are donated to NGOs fighting food issues, thereby creating a food chain: "What I ate turned into art, which, when sold, can again become food," explains Gilboa.
"Le Petit Déjeuner" is a part of the the Food Chain Project series ("Food in a Day”) taken between 2016 and 2019 and represents a breakfast in the artist’s diary.
Ein Jahr lang führte Itamar Gilboa ein Tagebuch über alles, was er aß und trank. Akribisch hielt er seinen täglichen Konsum fest. Das Ergebnis ist in der Skulptureninstallation "Food Chain Project“ zu sehen. Seine Installation, ein wandernder Pop-up-Supermarkt, der aus mehr als 8.000 skulpturalen Lebensmittelobjekten aus weißem Gips besteht, repräsentiert physisch Gilboas jährlichen Konsum. Ein Teil des Verkaufgewinns wird an Wohltätigkeitsorganisationen gespendet, die sich für Themen rund um Lebensmittelprobleme und Hungersnot einsetzen und so eine Nahrungskette schaffen: "Was ich gegessen habe, wurde zu Kunst, die, wenn sie verkauft wird, wieder zu Nahrung werden kann", erklärt Gilboa.
"Le Petit Déjeuner" ist Teil der Food Chain Project-Serie ("Essen an einem Tag"), die zwischen 2016 und 2019 entstanden ist, und stellt ein Frühstück im Tagebuch des Künstlers dar.

Itamar Gilboa is an innovative, multi-disciplinary artist who lives and works in Amsterdam. He has always been inspired by the power of numbers and the influence of science. Gilboa works in diverse media: photography, video and sculpture. His work is diverse, yet consistent. It is not only consistent because of his scientific approach, it also shares certain themes. Gilboa has been spending most of his artistic career researching factors that determine who he is – his cultural heritage, national identity and the changes he experienced migrating to the Netherlands, social networks and connections.

Itamar Gilboa ist ein innovativer, multidisziplinärer Künstler. Er lebt und arbeitet in Amsterdam. Inspiriert von der Macht der Zahlen und dem Einfluss der Wissenschaft arbeitet Gilboa in verschiedenen Medien: Fotografie, Video und Skulptur. Sein künstlerisches Schaffen ist vielfältig und doch einheitlich. Es ist nicht nur aufgrund seines wissenschaftlichen Ansatzes konsistent, sondern auch durch wiederkehrende gleiche Themen. Bis heute hat Gilboa den größten Teil seiner künstlerischen Laufbahn mit der Erforschung von Faktoren verbracht, die bestimmen, wer er ist - sein kulturelles Erbe, seine nationale Identität und die Veränderungen, die er bei der Migration in die Niederlande erlebte, soziale Netzwerke und Verbindungen
