PRIOR PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

BEFORE co-founding Global Art Source in 2001, Susanne Widmer worked for 12 years at Thomas Ammann Fine Art, one of the world’s most renowned galleries dealing in Classical Modern Art. The gallery features works by many prominent artists including Picasso, Giacometti, Monet, Matisse, Beckmann and Warhol.

SHE worked as the personal assistant to Thomas Ammann and his sister Doris Ammann in Switzerland and in the U.S. This position provided her with the unique opportunity to discover the business of art trading from two professionals dealing at the top of the Classical Modern market. Susanne Widmer was involved in all aspects of buying and selling fine art, especially paintings and sculptures. She worked closely with private collectors, museums and galleries all over the world and regularly attended auctions at Christie’s and Sotheby’s in New York, London and Paris.

FOR four consecutive years she organized and ran the gallery’s booth at Art Basel, the world’s most prestigious art fair. She also assisted in the project to produce the Catalogue Raisonné of Andy Warhol for Thomas Ammann Fine Art.

SUSANNE Widmer served for many years as the secretary of the Swiss Art Dealer’s Association and was a long-time board member of CINOA, an international body of 32 art and antique dealer associations in 21 countries, representing about 5’000 art and antique dealers. These positions enabled her to establish valuable business relationships with directors of the world’s leading galleries in many fields of fine art.
